Rocca al Mare

The beautiful name of the district is Italian for ‘a rock by the sea’ and was given to a namesake summer mansion in the area two centuries ago. Today, this district is home to the Estonian Open Air Museum, which recreates the Estonian rural lifestyle and national traditions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It consists of nearly 80 historic buildings including farmhouses, mills, net sheds, a village school, a chapel, and a fire station. Another noteworthy sight in Rocca al Mare is the Tallinn Zoo with its diverse collection of animals. Visitors can also experience nature and move in the open air along the Rocca al Mare promenade, which runs through a peaceful and green residential district connecting Stroomi and Kakumäe beaches.

If you are looking for an adrenaline rush, make sure to visit the FK Keskus karting track or have a paintball fight. Sport enthusiasts are also welcome in the Rocca al Mare tennis and padel centre and the Škoda ice arena. Saku Suurhall, the largest venue in Estonia for sports, conventions, and entertainment which can house 10,000 visitors, is also located here. Rocca al Mare is connected to the city centre by frequent public transport departures, while drivers will find plentiful and largely free car parks.
